In these crazy times, love prevailed.

2020 is not a normal year.

We all know that, of course, and we have all been impacted in various degrees to the effects of this pandemic. Travels have been cancelled for so many, jobs upended, and so many people unable to see each other. I’ve thought, often, about how many couples in the middle of their wedding plans would be impacted by this strange year. So many weddings cancelled and postponed. So many people who put so much into plans all of a sudden found themselves with no options, or with the only option being to push everything out to sometime in the future.

But, somehow, some of these unions are taking place. Improbably. Beautifully.

A pandemic wedding isn’t your normal wedding. It means sacrifices had to take place, measures put into place, guest lists slashed, and - perhaps more importantly - the two people getting married would have to take on a great deal of patience, “go-with-the-flow”, and a sense of humour about everything that’s happening. What else can you do?

Connie and Chris had a sense of humour, and a rare fortitude in ensuring their wedding happened. Last minute changes and hiccups. Plans changed again and again….and then again, once again. But you know what? They did it. They pulled it off. With so much light, and laughter, and beauty. Their wedding wasn’t about everything being “perfect:” per what society’s notion of what a wedding should be….their wedding was about them. Coming together. Love, care, and friendship. Family.

It was perfect.

A big thanks to everyone who made this day so special, including the St. Andrews Church, the staff at the Maritime Inn, and my wonderful second shooter, Amy Stackhouse.
